Making My First E-Portfolio

It’s safe to say that it has always been important to market oneself in one way or another, and an e-portfolio is a great place to put one’s experiences and past projects along with one’s skill’s and qualifications. I myself have light experience in creating webpages but outside of social media like LinkedIn, I have never created self-profile from scratch. But it truly did not turn out to be all too difficult and I am excited about understanding Wix’s tools better as this can become a valuable in the future.

When creating the profile, I had a vision of what I wanted to create so I can say that the easiest part of the process was choosing the template to begin with. To explain further, I wanted a template where the I would be able to showcase the more resume aspects of the profile like my involvement experiences. Also, due to me not knowing very much about the editing tools I searched for a template that already had its text boxes organized so that I would be able to simply insert my own content in an organized format, and luckily the template that I did find was able to satisfy both preferences.

While it was easy to have the text in my portfolio to be organized due to the template, but figuring out what to actually write was definitely the main challenge. This is because I was concerned with elements such how formally I should write, if I was being too or too little descriptive when talking about my work or if the things I sampled were the right ones, but so far, I believe I’ve found a good balance in these elements and am glad that if need be they can be easily changed. I think having this portfolio will help me when entering my career field because I will be able to show employers that while I do have qualifications and skills, but I have also taken the time to organize what I have to offer in a way that is presentable and even if I am no web designer, the fact that I was able to put this page together, could prove to be a valuable skill on top of everything else.
